Attending St Anthony of Padua Catholic College Austral gives students a rare opportunity to be on the cusp of Western Sydney Aerotropolis’ high-skills job hub, creating pathways to aerospace, defence, manufacturing, healthcare, freight/logistics, agribusiness, education and research careers.
Our $153 million high-tech school is set over 15.5 hectares and is in Sydney’s new epicentre of economic growth and will boast something for every type of learner and leader of the future.
Excitingly, the college’s redevelopment was among a short list of projects fast-tracked by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment in response to COVID-19, to help create jobs statewide including in the flourishing Austral and Leppington North community, where this college sits.
Our facilities, to be delivered via six stages, include an:
- indoor recreation centre with gymnasium;
- 125-place childcare centre;
- café and hospitality area;
- theatre;
- 2500-seat capacity school hall;
- performing arts, science and engineering hubs;
- market garden;
- soccer fields, basketball courts and tennis courts;
- bicycle parking spaces.
The roof solar panels give the school its own renewable energy source. Organic waste will be used for composting in the school’s market garden, where students will learn how to grow their own produce.
The school entry will be via a piazza, a publicly-accessible community and landscaped space in which school and community activities can be held.
A forum, at the heart of the school, will connect our learning hubs with the Resource Centre, administration, hospitality, performance and community spaces, and a Wellness Centre will provide counselling and support services for both the college community, as well as careers advice and health services for our students.
A future Church will be built alongside the community piazza which will provide a large outdoor gathering space reminiscent of St Anthony’s sermons in the fields and piazzas of Italy.
